The Buddleia commonly known as the butterfly bush can be a cultivated shrub or tree. It is also a self sowing plant and thrives in dry open ground often found growing near railway lines and on derelict factory sites. The flowers vary in colour ranging from pastel pinks to blue, each individual flower is tubular and divides into four spreading petals. The flowers are generally rich in nectar and often strongly honey scented attracting butterflies, bee's and moths.
