On a short visit to Scotland this was the only day I had to photograph The Forth Bridge so I wasn't too hopeful. I wanted to capture the full expanse of this cantilever construction and decided a good view could be had from the parish of Fife, so I set off towards Inverkeithing Bay on the north coast of the Firth of Forth about 10 miles from Edinburgh. The weather had been pretty solemn most of the day with grey overcast skies and flat light so I knew I would be lucky if I managed to get anything at all. I was about to pack the camera away when the sun started to break through the heavy cloud, the rays of light just starting to fall on the metal girders of the bridge, within a few seconds it had gone and down came the rain.
